Government should reconsider March to be “Year Of Return” and not December – Blutut Africa

Government should reconsider March to be “Year Of Return” and not December – Blutut Africa

Many things point to the need for meaningful change in our cultural and national heritage. Other nationals must not only come in for the entertainment aspects but also feel our cultural trademark, also the skills, attitudes, and values that will let them see our capabilities as a country and what we stand for.

For this to happen, I think Government needs to actively push the Agenda to make March (Ghana Month) the “Year Of return” and not December.
We are in the Information age and I believe other nationals would want to learn a lot from Ghana.

Year of return has over the past years made it possible for foreigners to connect with Ghanaians and a mountain of information about our rich culture, values, food, lifestyle, language can be made accessible to these visitors.

The month of March can be disbursed with several activities. We have a variety of cultures. Cultures have been maintained from time and have been handed down from one generation to another.

Some characteristics like our language, religion, food habits, social norms, music and arts can be sold to these visitors.
Thus, revisiting our culture and tradition will help us realize who we are. With the introduction of social media, we have become more exposed to foreign cultures and along the line, we tend to forget who we are and represent as a country.

Introducing March as the year of return and its activities can help us learn the roots of our cultures and follow them accordingly; we get to know and accept ourselves better. It boosts our self-respect and dignity to follow our culture.

Making March the year of return can be a new way of listening to our Ghanaian and African Music as well as knowing the Musical legends. Artists can have direct interaction with their global fans.

Unlike on other music streaming platforms, there will be social interactions between Artists and their global fans, as the initiative will allow the various media houses play 100 percent Ghanaian music and connect them directly to their global fans and help visitors listen to quality music from our artist all over the country.

The economic benefits can’t be overlooked upon. Celebrating year of return in March will attract visitors to the country, which stimulate the growth of tourism and other businesses in the country. Visitors will spend money when purchasing tickets, food, beverages, souvenirs, and paying for parking, among others.

Also, money will be spent on accommodation and at the gas stations to mention a few.
In general, Ghana can experience an overall increase result in our culture and traditions by rebranding March as Year of return’.
