Rev. Benjamin Boateng has cautioned against the damaging effects of gossip within church communities, describing it as a serious issue that can hinder spiritual and organizational growth if left unchecked.
Speaking on Nyansapo fie show on Plan B 104.5 FM, Rev. Boateng emphasized that certain forms of gossip, when tolerated, can gradually weaken the unity and progress of a church. He did not mince words in condemning the act, stating that “every gossiper is a wicked person,” highlighting the moral weight he believes the behaviour carries.
He further explained that gossip in religious settings is particularly harmful because it is often disguised as a genuine concern or shared under the pretext of prayer. According to him, this makes it more deceptive and divisive, as it can spread negativity while appearing spiritually justified.
Rev. Boateng added that overcoming false rumours and gossip does not only benefit the church but also has a ripple effect on other areas of life. He noted that individuals who resist such behaviour contribute positively to their workplaces and communities, fostering healthier and more respectful environments.
He concluded by urging believers to be mindful of their words and intentions, encouraging a culture of truth, unity, and sincere communication within the church.
