The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully extinguished a fire that engulfed an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) high-tension pole at Ahenbromu in the Eastern Region.
According to the GNFS, firefighters responded swiftly after receiving a distress call at 8:58 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Upon arrival, the crew assessed the situation and deployed a hose line to bring the blaze under control before completely extinguishing it.
The fire caused partial damage to the high-tension pole. An ECG engineer at the scene indicated that the incident was triggered by overheating during a period of peak electricity demand.
Officials from the Electricity Company of Ghana were also present to assess the damage and carry out the necessary technical interventions to restore the affected infrastructure.
The GNFS commended the prompt response of its personnel, which helped prevent the fire from spreading and causing further damage.
