Ghana’s 8th parliament is a disgrace to the nation and to themselves – Political Analyst

A renowned Political Analyst, Samuel Boateng has said that Ghana’s 8th parliament is a disgrace to the nation and to themselves as members of the house.

Mr. Boateng expressed dissatisfaction in the ongoing impasse between the Majority and the Minority Caucuses following the Speaker’s ruling on four vacant seats.

The Majority Caucus in Parliament has petitioned the Speaker to recall parliament, but the Minority is also urging the Speaker to reject such calls.

In an interview with Ohene Kinnah on Plan B FM’s ‘Ebaanosen’ show on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, Mr. Boateng made it clear that, both Majority and Minority Caucus in Parliament are of no benefit to the nation.

Mr. Boateng emphasized that, it’s a country that we are building and not a political party. Both Majority and Minority Caucuses in Parliament are in for their own interest instead of the country’s interest.

“Ghana’s 8th parliament is a disgrace to the nation and to the Members of the house. This started from the beginning of the 8th parliament and they are ending it with that same disgrace and disrespect” he stated.

“The Majority Caucus in Parliament can’t force the Speaker to recall members of the house for business neither the Minority can also ask the Speaker not to take heels to the Majority’s plea” he noted.

“It’s the Speaker who can recall the Members of the house in convening business but politically, the timing is wrong” he added.
