U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a Ghanaian named Joseph Osei Boateng convicted of sex crimes involving a minor, in Columbus, Ohio.

Joseph Osei was arrested by the authorities on January 29, 2025.

According to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement news report, Joseph entered the country illegally in 2019 and was convicted of two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor by the court in 2024.

He is reported to be in the custody of ICE pending the outcome of his immigration proceedings.

“Sex crimes against a minor threaten the very fabric of our communities. Our ICE team will continue to identify and apprehend individuals amenable to removal who have victimized our most vulnerable population,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Detroit Field Office Director Robert Lynch said in a news report.
