The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action against a man captured in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife. According to a press release from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) dated November 18, 2025, John Odartey Lamptey was arrested on November 17, 2025, at his residence in Ofankor, Ga East Municipality.

The CID also arrested two of Lamptey’s siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, who allegedly attempted to attack a female tenant suspected of recording and circulating the video. The tenant was rescued to ensure her safety.

Efforts are currently underway to locate and ensure the safety of the wife who fled the scene before police arrived. The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring perpetrators face the full rigor of the law.

Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawao, Public Relations Officer of the CID, signed the press release.
