The coordinator for the Public Interest and Accountability Committee(PIAC) Mr Isaac Dwamena has said Ghana has accrued an amount of $7.36 billion since the beginning of the extraction of crude oil from the various oil fields in Ghana.
In an interview on plan B Fm morning show Nkosuo Nsem  with the host Ohene Addo, mr Dwemena explained that PIAC is an independent body seeking for the interest and accountability for the public on how our oil money is being used for,he said that there are laws that stipulates how the oil money should be shared and it uses.
The coordinator said that some rhe oil money is being used in financing some projects in the likes of kotoka International Airport terminal 3 expansion, the construction of Etuabo Gas Power Plant, some wear house constructed in the North East region which is in use and many other projects in the country.
Some of the money is being used in financing the Free SHS police, some of the money too are being kept the heritage fund ,some percentage is being chennelled to the district Assemblies Common Fund for developmental projects for every citizen to have a ffair share of the money, he added.
These conversation was brought up when some selected Parliamentary Press Corp over the weekend in Keta, the Vice Chairman of PIAC, Mohammed Nasir Alfa called on the media to help get relevant stakeholders speed up on recommendations made by the committee.
“I can foresee a time where cases involving findings and recommendations of PIAC may finally end up in the courts of law. Then, the judiciary may come in handy and will be required as much as possible to uphold not necessarily the findings and recommendations, but by an extent, the three arms of government.”
“PIAC cannot do it alone, so I am adding the media as the fourth estate of the realm. We need the media to support us with our advocacy in reaching out to the people”, he added.
