GHALCA Elections: GHALCA Chairman Calls For Unity

Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo, who retained his Chairmanship position in the just ended Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elections, has called for the need for concerted efforts by members to make the association viable.

He said this in his victory speech after polling 71 votes out of 113 valid votes cast with his other competitor Mr. Isaac Wilberforce Koomson getting 42 votes.

According to the astute football administrator, the challenge in his second term would be enourmous considering the negative effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, which had changed the conditions under which football was administered.

“It is a very humbling moment for me and GHALCA is not dead as being purported. The overwhelming majority of 71 votes means the assignment has been bestowed on me and the expectations from football people are enormous.

”Having tasted office for the past four years I am going into my second term and I cannot fail my members with this overwhelming support.

”We have to start working immediately because there is no time to waste. We are playing football at a time where the world is fighting a pandemic, so we need to dig deep to deliver in order to satisfy the members,” he told pressmen.

He urged other contestants who were successful in their respective bids to put the campaign season behind them and join forces for the betterment of clubs.

Mr. Fianoo added that the newly instituted National Executive Council would need to review its constitution so that members would be more accountable to the General Assembly.

The National Executive Council of GHALCA would meet for the first time on Friday to discuss issues pertaining to clubs across the three major divisions (Premier League, Division One and Two)
