Gh₵5m Set Aside To Pay Lottery Wins – NLA

Local and Financial Secretary of the NLA workers Union, Yamoah Quansah has indicated that GH₵5m has been earmarked to pay lottery winners.

Workers of NLA in the early hours of Monday, March 1, 2021, embarked on protests and withdrew their services following constant nationwide attacks on them by disgruntled lottery winners.

Speaking to Ohene Addo on Plan B FM “Nkosuo Nsem”, Mr. Yamoah said that a committee has been setup to address the concerns of their clients and subsequent compilation of a data to determine persons who are eligible for the package.

“An amount of 5million Ghana cedis has been side for that purpose. However, management is working around the clock to determine the particular persons who are eligible for the package’’ He said

“We want to appeal to our clients to remain calm, and i can assure them that their monies will be paid in the coming weeks,” He reiterated

The Authority has failed to pay wining draws as far back as April 2020 and that has resulted in series of attacks on their staff nationwide.

He aslo stated that, the NLA has struggled under the management of Kofi Osei Ameyaw who until yesterday March 11, 2021 has been ordered by the President Nana Akufo Addo to proceed on retirement.

Mr. Yamoah cited several reasons including poor working condition of service, shortage of artificial materials to aid in printing of lotto papers and among other things has accounted for the woes of the Authority.
