GFA profits from hooliganism – David Oduro

GFA profits from hooliganism – David Oduro
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sports journalist David Oduro (King David) believes that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) financially benefits from acts of hooliganism due to the fines and charges imposed on offending teams. As a result, he argues, the GFA has a lethargic approach to tackling safety issues and curbing hooliganism.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Kawadwen sports show hosted by Dan K Pobi Okocha, King David asserted that if the Football Association is serious about eliminating corruption and hooliganism in football, it should enforce stiffer punishments on players and officials who misconduct themselves, rather than relying on fines and charges.

His comments come amid growing concerns over safety and hooliganism in Ghanaian football, following the tragic incident at Prof. Nana Koronmansah Park in Nsoatre, where Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Nana Yaw Frimpong lost his life during a match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.
