GES Interdicts two watchmen over alleged sexual assault at Bolgatanga Girls SHS

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following an alleged sexual assault involving a student of the school.

According to the GES, it received a disturbing report of the alleged incident, which is said to have occurred while the student was receiving medical attention after reportedly suffering a relapse.

The Service said preliminary information indicates that the student is a special needs student who is on medication.

The two watchmen have since been arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigation.

GES said it has also placed the two suspects on interdiction with immediate effect, pending the outcome of investigations.

The Service said appropriate sanctions would be applied in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana if the allegations are established.

Management has further cautioned staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure the safety, dignity and wellbeing of all students.

GES has assured parents, guardians and the general public that it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
