The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly denied reports circulating in the media suggesting that about 60 percent of applicants who underwent medical screening for military recruitment were found to be HIV positive.
In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, the GAF described the publication as fake news and urged the general public to disregard it entirely.
According to the statement, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and no official results have been declared at this time, contrary to claims being shared on various media platforms.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is fake news and should be ignored by all,” the release emphasized.
The Armed Forces further disclosed that efforts are underway to trace the originators of what it described as a “mischievous story,” warning against the spread of unverified information that could mislead the public.
The GAF also used the opportunity to caution media practitioners, content creators, bloggers, and vloggers to exercise professionalism by cross-checking facts before publication.
