GWCL Engineers are working around the clock to replace the weak session of the transmission line for supply to resume.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: 27th August, 2024
ATTN: NEWS EDITOR:

The Management of Ghana Water limited (GWCL), wishes to inform the general Public, that there has been interruption of water supply to the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region from Sunday 25th August 2024 affecting supply to Dodowa, Oyibi, Frafraha, Adenta, Madina, Ashongman, Haatso, La, Osu, Kanda, Airport Residential Area, Legon and surrounding communities. This occurred due to a burst on the transmission line from the Kpong Treatment plant to the Dodowa Booster Station, affecting the Northeastern part of the metropolis. After the repair work was completed, other challenges were identified on the same transmission line which necessitated another shutdown. GWCL Engineers are working around the clock to replace the weak session of the transmission line for supply to resume.
Management is as a result entreating consumers in Accra, especially consumers in the eastern part of the metropolis to manage the little water they have in their receptacles to forestall any eventuality.
The management of GWL wishes to assure the public that the situation is under control and everything humanly possible is being done to complete the repair work and restore supply. The Public is assured that, barring any unforeseen predicament, the project will be completed by close of day of Wednesday 28th August 2024 and supply will resume immediately the project is completed. Meanwhile, the company has put in place measures to serve the affected areas so the impact will not be adverse.
Hence, essential service providers like the hospitals and schools are being served with water tankers.
The management of GWL deeply regrets the inconvenience that the interruption has caused and pleads with consumers to bear with the situation.
The public and essential service providers are entreated to contact the following numbers in times of need: 0800 40000 (Toll free on Vodafone lines), 0302 2218240, 0207385088, 0207385089, 0207385090and via GWCL WhatsApp lines (0555123393, 0555155524) END.
