According to Ghana Web, In a recent interview with JoyNews, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, a former minister who served under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, dropped a bombshell statement that has left many political observers stunned. According to Frimpong Boateng, his true political party is not represented on the ballot paper for the upcoming 2024 elections, despite the New Patriotic Party (NPP) being the number one party listed.

When asked about his views on the current political landscape and who he plans to vote for in the upcoming elections, the former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation expressed disillusionment with his party. “I don’t really feel to be part of this party (NPP). My real party is not on the ballot sheet,” Frimpong Boateng revealed. He added, “This is the party I loved, and I have an emotional attachment to it from the days of my grandfather. This is not Kufuor’s NPP where there is unity and love.”

Frimpong Boateng, who held his ministerial position from 2017 to 2021, made it clear that he no longer feels a connection to the NPP, citing a lack of unity within the party. His comments have raised eyebrows, as the NPP has traditionally been a dominant force in Ghanaian politics and is currently preparing for another election cycle.

Many were shocked by his candid remarks, as the New Patriotic Party has been a key part of Frimpong Boateng’s political identity, stretching back to his family’s historical ties with the party. His statement highlights growing divisions within the NPP, a party that has undergone significant changes over the years, especially since the leadership of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
