Godwin Parko, 25-year-old former student at Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) has been found dead at Havedzi in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.

The body of the deceased was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, at about 0500 hours along Havedzi-Anlo Afiadenyigba road.

Mr Raphael Normegbor, the Assembly member of Havedzi-Xorvi Electoral Area, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that residents were in the state of shock after the unfortunate incident.

“I received a call on Sunday morning from a resident about a man, who allegedly committed a suicide along the Havedzi-Anlo Afiadenyigba road and discovered by a passerby,” he stated.

He also stated that further information gathered indicated that the deceased was a former student of Ketasco, who dropped out from school in form two due to some domestic issues.

Mr Normanyo said that the deceased, who lost both parents some years ago was a native of Agbozume but stayed with a stepbrother at Havedzi for the past two months.

“I was told that the deceased has been complaining of bad dreams recently, and on that tragic day, l was told some people saw him walking towards, where he committed the suicide, no one suspected him of doing such a thing.”

Mr Normanyo said that the deceased did not have issues with anybody or showed any sign of frustration or trauma that could have triggered him to commit the act.

He said the residents of Havedzi and the surrounding communities were engulfed with fear “since this is the first time a tragic incident like this has happened in the area.”

He said the incident has since been reported to Keta Municipal Police Command, who conveyed the deceased’s body to the morgue of the Keta Municipal hospital for autopsy.

He urged the residents to remain calm for the Police, who are yet to commence investigation into the case.
