Former Buffer Stock CEO Abdul-Wahab Hannan Regains Freedom After Detention

Former Buffer Stock CEO arrested in EOCO operation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Food Buffer Stock Company, Abdul-Wahab Hannan, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after spending two weeks in detention.

He was granted bail of GH¢60 million with two sureties. Hannan was arrested on June 25 along with his wife over allegations of financial misconduct during his time in office.

His wife was released last week on a GH¢30 million bail, but Hannan remained in custody, despite reports that he had met the bail conditions. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) criticised the bail terms, calling them harsh and unfair.

Hannan was finally released on Tuesday, greeted by family members who had been waiting outside EOCO’s headquarters.
