Former Aviation Minister, Kofi Adda Has Died

Joseph Kofi Adda, a former Minister for Aviation, has died in Accra after he reportedly complained that he was unwell a couple of weeks ago.

Sources close the former Minister who died at age 65-years, say he took ill shortly after a returned from a trip to Navrongo in the Upper East region.

The sources continued that the deceased who was once a Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central was rushed to a medical facility in Ghana’s capital for medical attention when his family realized that he condition was not improving.

According to the sources who prefer to remain anonymous, the former Minister passed during the early hours of today, Thursday, October 14, 2021.

He first gained prominence when he became a legislator in 2003 when he won the Navrongo Parliamentary seat in a by-election.

The then incumbent MP for Navrongo Central, John Achiliwor had died paving way for a by-election to e held which subsequently saw Mr. Adda emerged winner. He retained his seat in subsequent election which was held in the year 2004.

He got appointed as the Minister for Manpower Development and Employment in the year 2005 and was later made the Minister for Energy in April 2006.

He managed to retain his seat in the 2008 general election even though his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the general elections. He however could not retain his seat in the subsequent general elections as he lost his seat to Mr. Mark Woyongo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012.

In 2017 the deceased former Minister was appointed as Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and was later moved to head the Aviation Ministry.
