Former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo has strongly criticized the Clerk of Parliament for allegedly obstructing efforts by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to prosecute individuals implicated in the misuse of public funds.
Domelevo expressed frustration, stating that the Clerk’s inaction has delayed justice and accountability in cases where public resources have reportedly been mismanaged or embezzled.
The call for action was initially raised by PAC Chairman James Klutse Avedzi, who noted that the Clerk’s failure to act on PAC’s recommendations for prosecution has created roadblocks in holding perpetrators accountable.
Avedzi revealed that this lack of follow-through has led to frustration within the committee, with some members contemplating resignation over the inability to enforce necessary consequences for financial misconduct.

But the former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo said the clerk’s conduct is unacceptable and that public must continue to hold such public officials accountable.
Domelevo, who has long championed transparency and accountability in public service, stressed that such delays undermine public confidence in governmental oversight and diminish the deterrent effect of PAC’s efforts to curb corruption.
He urged Parliament to address these internal barriers to ensure that PAC’s recommendations are implemented effectively and that public officials entrusted with managing funds are held to the highest standards of accountability.
