A man has been accused of using the identity of a boy killed in a car crash 42 years ago to build a life for himself in the US – which included employment at an airline for two decades.
He is charged with using the details of William Ericson Ladd, a boy from Atlanta who died aged four, to access secure areas of countless airports across the US.
Ladd was killed in a car crash in Washington State in 1979, just one month before his 5th birthday, according to the criminal complaint filed in a Texas court.
Guedes allegedly came to the US from his native Brazil on a tourist visa in the mid-1990s but overstayed.
The 49-year-old, who now resides in Lake Houston, Texas, applied for a passport in the youngster’s name in 1998, the Houston Chronicle reports.
