Four persons together with other passengers travelling in a commercial vehicle from the Accra-to-Tema stretch of the motorway met their untimely death when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an Accident.

The Thursday early morning accident according to some eyewitnesses saw some of the other passengers sustain various degrees of injuries. Speaking to Plan-B FM at the scene, one of the eyewitness who preferred to remain anonymous noted that one man and three women died in the accident.

The injured persons, according to him were taken away in separate vehicles to Tema General Hospital for treatment.

The eyewitness continued that the accident occurred around 6:30am when a Sprinter buss with registration number GR 6117-20, travelling from Tema to Accra burst a tyre and subsequently fell into a ditch by the highway.

He told this radio station that the deceased persons, a man and three women died on the spot. He explained that the vehicle somersaulted more than once before finally landing in the ditch and added that the impact of accident may have contributed to the death of the four who died.

The vehicle he pointed out was travelling on top speed when it burst the tyre making it difficult for the driver to firmly control his wheel. He believed that if the vehicle was driving on minimal speed the situation would have been different and the deceased may still be alive with minor injuries.

When Plan-B FM reporter, Bohyeba Kwabena Afriyie arrived at the accident scene, he saw some men from the Ghana National Ambulance Service were on hand helping the victims.
