The Tema regional Ghana National Fire Service GNFS has refuted claims by a section of the public on 29th September 2023 that the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has caught fire.

Speaking to the Tema Regional Fire Service Public Relation officer ADOII Ebenezer Yenzu on Plan B FM late afternoon EBAANOSEN hosted by Ohene Kinnah. He explained that a gas booster station, Quantum Gas near the Tema Oil Refinery’s (TOR) pipeline caught fire on Friday morning.

He said reports they gathered indicated that the company was transferring gas from vessels at the Port to the booster station for distribution to terminals in the area when the incident occurred.

“We received a distress call at about 7:30 am Friday but when we moved the scene, we saw firefighters already deployed by TOR trying to bring the situation under control, so we joined them, and in under 22 minutes we were able to salvage the situation” he added.

He said the outbreak of the fire at Quantum Gas has not affected Tema Oil Refinery and they are yet to identify the cause of the fire.
