A major fire outbreak on Friday morning destroyed parts of the Monte Carlo Pub and Restaurant at Tema Community 10, causing extensive damage to property but leaving no casualties.
According to a situational report from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire, classified as commercial, was reported at 7:01 a.m., with firefighters dispatched a minute later. Fire crews arrived at the scene at 7:08 a.m. and managed to bring the blaze under control by 7:40 a.m. before finally extinguishing it at 9:34 a.m.
Five fire tenders from the Motorway, Industrial Area, Ashaiman, Tema Regional Headquarters and Newtown Fire Stations were deployed to battle the inferno.
The fire destroyed sections of the Monte Carlo Pub and Restaurant, including its restaurant area, cold room refrigerators and drinks stock. A nearby food joint, Grant Avenue Food Joint, was completely burnt, while an adjoining welding shop and part of the pub’s sitting area suffered partial damage.
Firefighters, however, managed to salvage two offices, sitting areas, two safes with their contents, and two store rooms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Several senior fire officers were present at the scene, led by Tema Regional Fire Commander, ACFOII Patrick N. Sallah. Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) also assisted in emergency operations.
