Fiorentina Confirm Successful ACL Surgery For Tariq Lamptey

Ghana winger Tariq Lamptey has successfully undergone surgery on an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury he picked up recently.

Tariq Lamptey, who recently joined Italian Serie A side Fiorentina from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, suffered the injury in Fiorentina’s league game against Como on Sunday, September 21.

The club announced in a statement that the Black Stars player had been undergoing a “series of static and dynamic clinical and diagnostic tests in order to diagnose the extent of the injury”.

The tests revealed that Lamptey had picked up an isolated tear of the anterior cruciate ligament requiring surgery that has been completed successfully according to the Italian club.

Tariq Lamptey is expected to be out for an extensive period and is set to be in heated race to be fit in time to be part of Ghana’s team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana is on the verge of qualifying to next year’s tournament; the Black Stars lead Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Africa.

Fellow Black Stars players Alidu Seidu, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Fatawu Issahaku recently recovered from ACL injuries.
