A 24-year-old farmer, Solomon Amenu, is undergoing treatment at Nkwanta St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in the Oti region after surviving a gunshot attack while en route to his farm on Saturday morning.
This incident marks the second attack within seven days in the Nkwanta South Municipality, prompting concerns among farmers regarding their safety.
In an interview with Rainbow Radio’s Samali Abdul Razak, Amenu recounted being ambushed by unknown gunmen who opened fire without warning.
Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm, Amenu managed to escape and seek refuge in the nearby town of Kromase before being rushed to the hospital.
The incident has sparked widespread fear and outrage among residents due to escalating crime rates in the area, prompting calls for swift police action to ensure the safety of farmers.
Kwame Asare, Solomon’s father, reported that his son departed for the farm at 5:00 am, and he later received a phone call informing him of the shooting. Asare immediately sent his other sons to verify the incident and subsequently filed a police report.
