A woman in Scotland who faked a pregnancy for months to keep a relationship with a one-night stand going has been given 150 hours of community service, a court in the central city of Perth decided on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old had spent a night with a man she met on a dating app in June 2019. Shortly after, she told him she was pregnant and wanted to keep the baby.
For almost nine months she lied to the man and also sent an ultrasound picture of a baby to his mother.
After the man’s brother saw her – allegedly in her eighth month of pregnancy – without an apparent baby bump, she bought a dummy.
The 36-year-old claimed in court that she had actually become pregnant during the one-night stand, but had lost the baby soon afterwards.
With the fake pregnancy, she said she had wanted to take revenge for the fact that the man had not entered into a relationship with her.
