Three persons who faked a kidnapping incident and demanded GH¢5,000 as ransom have been arrested by the Takoradi Police Command of the Ghana Police Service.

The police identified the suspects as Susuna Awortwe whose age is mentioned as 27-years, Francis Eshun, aged 27 and Joana Krah, aged 29.

Giving details on incident preceding the arrest of the three persons, the police narrated that suspect Joana Krah conspired with her accomplices, Francis and Susuna to feign her kidnap and demanded an amount of GH¢5,000 as ransom from her adopted father.

In a press release on the incident, the police explained that the Takoradi Divisional Police Command has arrested three suspects, Joana Krah, aged 29, Susana Awortwe, aged 27, and Francis Eshun, aged 27 for allegedly faking a kidnap and demanding a ransom or Five-Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS¢,000.00).

The police statement continued that the suspect Joana Krah, conspired with Susana and Francis to feign her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021. They quickly placed a phone call to the suspect’s adopted father to demand the ransom adding that she will not be freed if the money was not sent to them.

According to the statement, upon Joana Krah’s realisation that her adopted father had reported the issue to the police and an extensive search had been commenced to find her, she showed up at the Takoradi Central Police Station to confess to only joking with her father.

“When Joana became aware that her adopted father had reported to the police and an extensive search had commenced to find her, she showed up at the Takoradi Central Police Station, Saturday, October 23, 2021, to confess of only joking with her adopted father that she was kidnapped,” part of the police statement stated.

Readers will recollect that recently the area experienced similar incident when a lady, Josephine Panyin Mensah allegedly feigned a pregnancy and subsequent kidnapping. She is currently being tried in a law court for the alleged fake kidnapping after she pleaded not guilty in court.
