Exporters and Importers are struggling under this Government – IEPAG

Exporters and Importers are struggling under this Government – IEPAG

Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana Mr. Sampson Asaki Awingobit has stated that Importers and Exporters in the country are struggling to do business lately and there is little the government can do to turn the fortunes of the country around.

Mr. Awingobit Asaki in an interview on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Nana Yaw Abrompah, the Secretary said, ” Under this government, I don’t see things getting better. They are barely left with one year tenure.

We were expecting much better in the previous mid-year budgets but our expectations never came through.

Maybe the 2024 budget review would come with some relief for the business community.”

Mr. Awingobit bemoaned the high taxes imposed on the business community, which are taking a toll on their businesses.

According to him, the mid-year budget presented over the years gave the business community no hope of things getting better.

” if things continue to be like this, then am afraid that some businesses will be moving to neighboring countries to establish their businesses there”.
