Ex-Black Stars Player Otto Addo Named Assistant Coach At Borussia Dortmund

Former Ghana International Otto Addo has been appointed assistant coach of Borussia Dortmund following the sacking of head coach Lucien Favre after a 5-1 humiliation to newly promoted Stuttgart on Saturday.

Dortmund have earned only four points in their last five matches in the Bundesliga, although they showed some good performances in the Champions League, finishing first in Group F ahead of Lazio.

Confirming the news on the official Twitter handle of the German club said:

“Assistant coach Edin Terzic has been appointed as interim manager until the end of the current season. Terzic’s coaching team will be joined by Sebastian Geppert and Otto Addo”.

Otto Addo, who is a former player of Dortmund, was announced as the club’s ‘talent coach’ last year.

The role was created to serve as a link between the youth and senior teams.

He is responsible for grooming and nurturing BVB’s most talented youngsters to the senior team and is in charge of their supervision and additional training.

The BVB elite talent coach would now have to help as Edin Terzic attempts to halt the club’s poor run in the league this season.

Otto Addo played for Dortmund between 1999 and 2005, making 98 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 16 goals and winning the 2002 Bundesliga title during his time with the Club.

Born in Germany, Addo represented Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, making two appearances as the Black Stars reached the round of 16.
