The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a public warning to businesses and the general public over the activities of individuals falsely presenting themselves as officials of the authority.

In a public notice dated January 26, 2026, the EPA said it has received reports of impostors visiting business premises under the guise of conducting official duties. The authority described the act as fraudulent and a serious threat to its credibility and operations.

The EPA stressed that its field officers engaged in compliance, enforcement, or monitoring activities willnever visit any facility without proper identification and authorisation.

According to the authority, all legitimate EPA officers on official duty are required to operate with the following credentials:

– Valid EPA staff identification cards

– Official letters of introduction clearly stating their affiliation with the Authority

– Branded EPA vehicles

– Branded EPA reflective vests

The authority strongly advised the public not to grant access, make payments, or provide information to any individual claiming to be an EPA official without these credentials.

“Members of the public and business operators should always verify the identity of anyone claiming to represent the EPA before engaging with them,” the statement emphasised.

To confirm the authenticity of EPA officers or report suspicious activities, the authority urged the public to contact it directly through the following channels:
