The former Central Regional Minister, Mr Kwamena Duncan, has called on the police to take decisive action against those arrested during the recent Democracy Hub demonstration, insisting that none of the protesters should be spared for their misconduct.
His remarks come in the wake of over 30 individuals being apprehended for allegedly causing property damage and engaging in activities that violate the law.
The arrested protesters were subsequently arraigned before the court, where they faced charges related to their actions during the demonstration.
Following their court appearance, they were returned to police custody as the legal process unfolded.
In light of these developments, the former Central Regional Minister expressed the need for law enforcement to uphold justice and ensure that those responsible for the disturbances face the full consequences of their actions.
He emphasised the importance of the police carrying out their duties effectively and without leniency.
“The steps that have been taken by the Police to arrest these lawless young people, the law must go through the full haul and deal with them”, stressing “These are the things that will precipitate this country unto the path of disorder.”
“Every well-meaning Ghanaian who gets the opportunity to watch the video, just by watching the video, you get provoked and for the Police to contain themselves, to hold on in the face of this extreme provocation, I commend them highly”, the former Minister emphasised while speaking on Peace FM on Wednesday, September 25.
