Mr Joe Donkor, former Central regional vice-chairman of the New Patriotic Party has state that embezzlement, pride and arrogant attitude of some of the government’s appointees and MPs caused the fall of NPP.
The former party chairman explained that the NPP lost as much as 9 parliamentary seats because funds that were meant to be disbursed to the grassroot campaign teams at the constituency did not reach the constituencies but rather ended up in the pockets of a few.
He added that some parliamentary members are so filled with arrogance that they are not interested in listening to ideas or accepting corrections when wrong.
“When you’re the party chairman in your constituency and you end up being appointed as DCE or MCE, it means you have to take care of those within your jurisdiction. But some of them ended up becoming lesser gods overnight. They won’t even come out of their vehicles to greet the community elders,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle Drive on Kastle 90.3 Fm.
The NPP won 10 out of the 23 constituencies in the central region, a sharp decline from the party’s 2016 performance which saw them win 19 parliamentary seats in the region.
