Election 2024: Electoral Commission to open nominations August 2, filing to end September 13

Electoral Commission to revoke licenses of 17 political parties

The Electoral Commission (EC) will open nominations for Presidential and Parliamentary candidates from Friday, August 2, to Friday, September 13, 2024.

Candidates vying for the Presidential position are required to pay One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC100,000) to the Electoral Commission during the submission of the nomination forms.

Female candidates and persons with disabilities are required to pay Seventy-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 75,000).

“Candidates vying for the position of President will be required to make a payment of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH0 100,000.00) at the time of submitting their Nomination Forms. Payment shall be by Banker’s draft and addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission. Female Candidates and Persons with Disabilities are required to pay Seventy-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH0 75,000).”

The EC directed that completed Presidential Nomination Forms should be signed by the Candidate and not less than two registered voters of each District Assembly.

The EC in a statement dated August 1, 2024, said interested Candidates are required to download the Nomination Forms from the Commission’s website (https://ec.gov.gh/forms/) from Friday, August 2, 2024.
