The Tema Metro Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Manasseh Ofosuhene-Asante, and his team have officially postponed the collation and declaration of the parliamentary results to Tuesday, 10 December 2024.
The election witnessed significant misunderstandings among party faithful and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to delays in declaring both the presidential and parliamentary results.
For the first time in Ghana’s electoral history, the Tema Central Constituency experienced chaos because of the delayed declaration of results.
Speaking to the media, the Tema Metro Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Manasseh Ofosuhene-Asante, announced that the parliamentary results would be declared on Tuesday, 10 December 2024, at the Regional Electoral Commission’s Office.
“We have postponed the declaration of the Tema Central parliamentary election results to Tuesday, 10 December, at the EC’s Regional Office,” he noted.
He added, “The ballot box containing all the materials will be kept at the Tema Regional Police Command.”
In an interview with Plan B 104.5 FM, the Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Tema Central Constituency, Hon. Ebi Bright, urged the Electoral Commission to ensure fairness during the declaration process.
“I’m expecting the EC to do the right thing on Tuesday, God willing,” she stated. “My team and I have our pink sheets, and we are confident that we have won the seat.”
She concluded, “I’m the winner, and I don’t want to hear anything different on Tuesday.”
