ECG to Transition All Customers To Prepaid Meters

ECG to Transition All Customers To Prepaid Meters
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Tema, Ghana – The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced plans to roll out prepaid meters to all customers, Sakyiwaa Mensah, ECG’s Tema Public Relations Officer, has said.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm programme, Ms Mensah stated that the transition would be gradual due to the capital-intensive nature of the project. She also noted that government agencies and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) would soon adopt the prepaid meter system.

The ECG official acknowledged potential challenges, including unstable internet supply, but assured that efforts would be made to address these issues.

Ms Mensah apologised for delays in postpaid bills, citing software modifications as the cause of the April bill delay, and appealed to customers for their understanding.
