Workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG, say they do not want a contract extension for their Managing Director, Kwame Agyeman-Budu who has reportedly attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The workers led by their divisional leadership under the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are calling for the immediate exit of the MD.
Speaking on the matter with Bohyeba Afriyie on Plan B Fm’s ‘Ebaanosen’, Social Commentator Mr. Nicheren Appiah Boadi revealed that it is mandatory for a Government worker to retire and exit their office immediately theyTh turn 60 years of age.
He disclosed that mostly the officials whose contract are extended regardless of their age is mainly because of the relationship they have with the Government in power.
He also said that the Government should not extend The Contract of Mr kwame Agyemang Badu because an official’s who is of age to retire can only be given contract extension when the person is playing a vital role that he or she cannot be replaced but here lies the case where workers are complaining of poor performance.
He concluded that Mr Agyemang Badu must peacefully exit the office to avoid denting his reputation.
