A lecturer, Eric Blankson, has been killed by suspected armed robbers at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.
The deceased was found in a pool of blood in his room after allegedly being attacked by unknown assailants.
According to his brother, Eric Blankson had recently been appointed to Peki College of Education after serving as a storekeeper at the Amankwa Fisheries Agriculture Technical Institute (AFATI) in the Afram Plains North District.
He had returned home for the weekend.
The brother said they spent the evening together at his mobile money (MoMo) shop before Eric retired to his room.
Due to a heavy downpour and a power outage, he closed the shop late.
When he later arrived home, he noticed Eric’s sandals outside the room, but the door had been locked with a padlock from the outside, which he found unusual.
He forced the door open and discovered Eric lying in a pool of blood with multiple suspected stab wounds.
The victim was rushed to the nearest health facility but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited the scene and conveyed the body to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy while investigations continue.
The deceased’s brother alleged that the attackers fled with about GH¢30,000 believed to have been kept in the room.
Family members said Eric Blankson was preparing to report to Peki College of Education to assume his new appointment before his tragic death.
Police are appealing to the public to volunteer any information that could help identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
