E/R: Two Nurses On Duty Fight At Eastern Regional Hospital In Presence Of Clients

E/R: Two Nurses On Duty Fight At Eastern Regional Hospital In Presence Of Clients
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Healthcare delivery at the Children’s ward of the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua was temporarily interrupted Wednesday evening after two pediatric nurses engaged in a noisy fight that nearly ended in an exchange of blows.

The vituperation between the two nurses lasted for about 40 minutes creating a noisy and chaotic scene despite attempts by some clients to stop the two incensed nurses.

An eyewitness told Mybrytnewsroom Wednesday evening that, the incident occurred about 6:30pm when a nurse on duty allegedly abandoned the post and went to town for about three hours without permission.

The Nurse In-Charge detected the absence of the nurse and even attempted to know her whereabouts but was not successful.

The In-charge nurse, therefore, questioned her subordinate when she returned and accused her of engaging in professional misconduct by abandoning her post while clients were waiting to be served.

This resulted in verbal exchanges between the two nurses for many minutes and nearly resulted in fisticuff

According to a witness, the accused nurse attempted to storm out of the hospital but was locked to block her until her duty time elapsed at 8:00pm.

Management of the hospital says the two staff will be subjected to the ethical and disciplinary procedure of the hospital and take further steps to prevent reoccurrence.
