A major fire outbreak at Akyem Kwabeng on Saturday, March 29, 2025 caused destruction to the second floor of an apartment in the Eastern Region.

The fire, which broke out on the first floor of a storey building was successfully contained by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), preventing extensive damage to surrounding properties and shops.

A Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service said the fire begun at 8:30 am on Saturday, March 29 prompting an immediate response from the Anyinam Fire Station.

According to the GNFS, the first crew led by LFM Brako battled the fully developed fire on the first floor of the storey building.

However, as the fire developed, reinforcement from Bunso Fire Station, led by ADO I Nyarko, arrived at 09: 30 am to assist with firefighting.

Through their coordinated response, the firefighters managed to bring the inferno under control in 2 hours.

“Their combined efforts brought the fierce fire under control at 1013 hours and fully doused at 1130 hours, preventing further damage to the ground-floor stores and a nearby apartment,” GNFS said.

While several personal belongings and electronic appliances were lost in the fire, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the outbreak.
