The General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has stated the party has picked intelligence of attempts by party members to cut deals with persons on the list of prosecution by the government.

Speaking at the 5th Annual General Conference of NDC lawyers, he failed to reveal the identity of such persons, but Mr. Kwetey says the government will not yield to such attempts.

“Many among us despite the fact that pleas and pressure are coming that punishment has to be meted and this must be done properly some among us are busy trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted,” he said.

He indicated, “some are becoming conduit through whom pressure is being brought to bear on people who are supposed to what is right. I may not mention names but a time will come when we may have to.”

This comes on the back of the party’s resolve to recover proceeds of corruption through the Operation Recover All Loots and prosecute persons found culpable.

Already, some officials of the previous government are being investigated for alleged corrupt practices.

According to the General Secretary, the electoral success of the party was hinged on the quest of the electorate to get the right things done.

Mr. Kwetey believes development has stifled in the country due to dishonesty on the part of people put in positions.

He said, “the people want what is right and what is right needs to be done.”

The NDC General Secretary further called on the Attorney General’s office to stay resolute in the fight against corruption.

“Attorney General, please continue to be strong, continue to be firm, you and your team. If you succumb, the problem will be you,” he added.

He observed that persons who will stand in to cut deals for persons culpable will turn around to blame the office for inefficiency.
