E/R: Confusion At ISD Office, Director Fights Accountant over ‘Chop Chop’

There is confusion at the Eastern Regional Office of the Information Service Department (ISD) over financial breaches.

The Regional ISD Director Sethlina Adwoa Okai is fighting the accountant at the office on secondment from the Controller and Accountant General Department for cautioning her for breaching the Public Financial Management Act.

The Accountant, Samuel Lartey wrote to the Regional Director of ISD to stop keeping money in her account and issue a memo in her name to withdraw the same to spend.

The accountant subsequently dissociated himself from any spendings made by the Director and its concomitant consequences.

This angered the Director who aggressively wrote back to the Accountant using harsh words against him.

She warned the accountant that he is a mere accountant on secondment to her office, therefore, cannot dictate to her what to do with the monies released to her office.

According to her, she is the spending officer thus has the right to spend monies for the running of ISD in the region “all that the accountant needed are corresponding receipts”.

Recently, the fight between the accountant and the ISD Director renewed over the disbursement of FE. The Regional Director wanted to take custody of the money but the accountant resisted and disbursed to all the district Information directors via Mobile money except three officers who later said, did not receive theirs.

The accountant after reconciling their claims resent the amount of Ghc200 each to them.

But the Regional ISD Director, Sethlina Adwoa Okai was mad at the accountant, accused him of an attempt to pocket the ghc600 belonging to three district officers but this has been refuted by the accountant who says it was an error on the part of the network provider.

Staff at the ISD office is worried about the sour relationship between the Regional Director and the Accountant.

Meanwhile, this website has gathered that the Accountant is being taken away from the office to a higher officer befitting of his rank as a chartered accountant.

The Regional ISD officer has allegedly been embarking on victimization agenda against people who do not bootlick her or have a different political ideology.

Since assuming office, she has embarked on bizarre transfers of much such staff to the district levels.
