Roads and Highways minister, kwesi Amoako Attah has said government will settle the debts of all road contractors it owes as soon as E-levy is successfully implemented.
In Authority of this PlanB FM’s Bohyeba Afriyie interviewed Mr Emmanuel cherry the chief Executive Officer for Ghana Chamber Of Construction industry on Ebanoosen and he started with the fact the GCCI was mainly formed to help develop the country so if the Government says E-levy will aid them to develop the country then their chamber is not against E-levy but they are against the Approach of introduction.
He said that the right way the Government had to go about the E-levy was to lobby thus plead with the citizens and their representatives in parliament but the majority rules style in other words “katashi” style he thinks is what has escalated the whole situation.
He also said that the Government owes the construction industry approximately 8 billion and the estimated amount to be made from E-levy is 6.5 billion which other sectors also hang on so their problem is how much will allotted for the construction industry.
He concluded that Government should Rather consider Road levy Because E-levy has already caught a fire that cannot be quenched.
