Data published by the bank of Ghana have shown that consumers appetite for internet banking has started slowing down.

An Analysis of the summary of Economic and financial data (January 2022) indicates that the growth rate of internet banking- both in terms of value and volume -slowed in December, compared to the previous two months in the last quarter of the year .

In Authority of this Bohyeba Afriyie of Plan B FM’s Ebanoosen interviewed Mr prince Obiri yeboah a financial Analyst and he explained that E-levy is the main cause of the slow down of internet banking.

He said that internet banking is the convenient style and customer friendly so most customers enjoy it but after the 2022 budget was read last year he had already pictured customers loosing appetite for internet banking because of the initiation of Electronic Levy .

He also said that these are all signs of the consequences of the E-levy if Government Goes ahead to implement it.

He indicated that Ghanaians are not ready for this type of tax and will not partake in any activity which which cost them Electronic levy and this means Government will not be able to fetch the targeted revenue from it.

He concluded that the Government must look for other means because the E-levy has brought sharp division and tension in the country which is a threat to our security.
