Effective March 2024, all Polyvynl Chloride (PVC) cards and driver’s licenses shall be declared invalid, the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority (DVLA) has hinted.
Speaking to Mr. Owusu Kwarteng, the Tema DVLA branch Manager, he told Ohene Kinnah on Plan B FM late afternoon show EBAANOSEN, he said, a notice has been issued to inform the general public on Monday, 4 September 2023.
“The DVLA has remained drivers that all smart card driver’s licenses issued on 17 September 2023 “are due for replacement beginning 17 September 2023. Thus holders of the PVC Driver’s license are to present them to the nearest DVLA offices for verification and replacement for smart card driver’s license”. he added.
He continued that, the requirement is to get an eye test result from any of the accredited eye centers approved by DVLA,
“We have premium and regular issuance of the license with a fee”
He cautioned that failure by drivers holding PVC licenses to replace their licenses with smart card driver’s licenses within the said period will need to start the process of acquiring a license again to get it.
