President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Nii Moi Thompson as the Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), pending consultations with the Council of State.

Dr. Thompson, a seasoned Development Economist, previously served as the Director-General of the NDPC, where he led the preparation of Ghana’s 40-Year Development Plan.

Dr. Thompson played a key role in integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Ghana’s national development strategy during his tenure from 2014 to 2015.

As chairman, he will collaborate closely with the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Government Statistician, and other key stakeholders to provide strategic advice to the President and Parliament on Ghana’s development trajectory.

Additionally, President Mahama has appointed Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) while awaiting the reconstitution of its Board.

Twum Boafo, a Civil Engineer and Finance expert, previously served as the Chief Executive of the Ghana Free Zones Authority from 2009 to 2017.

His academic credentials include a BEng in Materials Engineering from the University of Wales, an MSc in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, and an MBA in Finance and Investment Analysis from Stetson University, Florida, USA.
