The Association of Magistrates and Judges of Ghana (AMJG) has denied claims that Superior Court Judges receive ex-gratia every four years.
According to the judges, they rather take back pay when their actual salary is computed and back-dated.
“It is this arrears of salary or back pay which is mischievously being described as ex-gratia in the press, particularly on radio, television and on social media platforms by some seasoned journalists and so-called social commentators, who never attempted to look for the truth.
In Authority of this Nkosuo Hene of interviewed Mr Samuel Boateng a Political Analyst on Plan B Fm’s Ebaanosen and he stated that they judges have just renamed the ex-gratia just to swerve back lashes from Ghanaians.
He stated that ex gratia is been given soo much attention which is not right, there are a lot of things that needs to be attended to like the rapid increase of fuel prices which has grossly affected our economy.
He also said that the earlier the Government come to accept that Ghanaians are not in support of payment of ex gratia and work on taking it out of the system the better.
He concluded that Ghana is not in a good position to pay either back pay or ex gratia.
