Don’t limit appointments to NDC members only – Former Methodist Bishop urges Mahama

Don’t limit appointments to NDC members only – Former Methodist Bishop urges Mahama
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A former Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana, Kumasi Diocese, Rt Rev Prof Osei Safo-Kantanka, has called on President-elect John Mahama to avoid limiting ministerial appointments to just NDC card-bearing members.

He emphasized the importance of inclusivity, urging Mahama to bring in members from other political parties as well.

Speaking on on Lawson TV/Radio with sit-in host Oduefour Nana Asabre Pinamang on Monday, January 6, 2025, Bishop Sarfo Kantanka stressed that such inclusivity would be beneficial for both Mahama and the nation.

He reminded the President-elect that it wasn’t only NDC supporters who voted for the party, and that all Ghanaians expect more from the leadership.

He urged Mahama and the NDC to govern with humility and recognize the broader expectations of the people.

The 2024 elections also marked the return of former President John Dramani Mahama to office, as he won a decisive victory with 56% of the vote, defeating the ruling party’s candidate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who garnered 41%.
