The King of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale I,has instructed all chiefs in the Gonjaland paraountcies not to grant access to the Damongo Member of Parliament, Samuel Abu Jinapor to their various palaces.
According to him, any chief who defies the directive all sanctioned by the Yagbonwura palace.
“ paramountcies in Gonjaland should not grant audience to any Government delegation, political party or any person who pays him a visit, once it includes Samuel Abu Jinapor until he learns his tradition as a royal and learn how to respect the authority of the Yagbonwura and this statement is final and binding on all paramountcies within the Gonja Kingdom.”
He said this when the youth of Gonjaland staged a demonstration against the Damongo MP in Damongo in the Savannah region.
The Damongo Member of Parliament has been accused of interfering and meddling in the Chieftaincy issues in Damongo which is undermining the authority of the yagbonwura.
The youth of Gonjaland demonstrated through the streets of Damongo to register their displeasure about the interference of the Damongo MP into the Chieftaincy issues I. Damongo.
The Chief of Sakpala, Jantonwura Peter Awusi, who addressed the media said the history, tradition and the customs of the Gonja Kingdom is settled that Yagbonwura is the King and Overlord of the Kingdom adding that he is the father and the final symbol of authority in the great Kingdom.
“And so, any other chiefs, whether Paramount chief or a sub chief is subservient to the authority of the Kingdom.”

He indicated that all other chiefs, royals, warriors, drummers, blacksmiths, Imams, linguists, across the land are under the authority of the Yagbonwura noting that any person, on the soils of the Kingdom, be he/she a politician, a businessman, a chief or an ordinary person, comes second to Yagbonwura.
The youth of Gonjaland have therefore warned that they would deal severely with the Damongo MP should he continue to undermine the authority of Yagbonwura in the Gonjaland kingdom.
