Digitize WAEC Question Papers Delivery To Centres – Africa Education Watch To Gov’t

Digitize WAEC Question Papers Delivery To Centres – Africa Education Watch To Gov’t

The Programmes Officer for Education Think Tank, Africa Education Watch, Mr. Kwasi Nimo is calling on the government to increase the security of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) question papers from the depot to examination centres.

His call comes on the back of reports of alleged leakage of the Food and Nutrition Practical 3 Examination questions in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Although the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has denied such claims by the Africa Education Watch, but Mr. Kwasi Nimo says his outfit stand by the claims.

He said the central government adopting digitization of the questions transmission process is the only way to minimize the annual leakage of questions and examination malpractices.

According to him, WAEC should introduce an internet-based encrypted email system that sends questions 30 minutes ahead of the commencement of examinations, by which time all candidates should be seated.

The questions according to Mr. Kwasi Nimo should be printed in the open at the centre and shared with the provision of Wi-Fi in all SHSs; this recommendation is achievable in the short to medium term.

“I’m calling for an increased security of WAEC question papers from the depots to the centres, and a digitization of the questions transmission process to minimise, if not remove the human elements involved,” he said on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ with Bohyeba Afriyie.

He added that, his outfit will continue to closely monitor the conduct of the 2021 WASSCE with other partners to ensure credibility and accountability in Ghana’s public pretertiary education assessment space.

Meanwhile, the Head of Post Examinations Department – WAEC, Mrs Rosemond Wilson said some unscrupulous supervisors of the Examinations Council are the main cause of the annual examination questions leakage.
