DDE: Parliament drags Ofori-Atta to the floor on Val’s Day

DDE: Parliament drags Ofori-Atta to the floor on Val’s Day
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Speaker of Parliament, Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has tasked the Business Committee of Parliament to schedule the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, to appear before the house to urgently brief Parliament on the ongoing Domestic Debt Exchange (DDE) programme next Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

The decision to drag the finance minister to the floor comes after the Minority prayed the Speaker on the need to summon the finance minister.

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was the first to raise issues with the DDE.

Mr Ablakwa raised some arguments on the floor of the House when the Deputy Minister of finance and MP for Atewa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Abena Osei Asare, insisted and gave the assurance that the ongoing DDE programme does not include pension funds.
