Beleaguered Security Coordinator of the Ashanti region, DCOP Kwaku Ayesu Opare-Addo (Rtd) has hit back at allegation of criminal activities and non-performance levelled against him by the Acting National Security Coordinator, Major General Francis Adu Amanfo.
In a statement copied to media house, DCOP Opare-Addo described the allegations against him as distasteful and unfortunate and called for an investigation into his tenure as the Security Coordinator for Ashanti region.
He was quick to slam what he said, is attempts to justify his disrespectful removal from office by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) affiliated vigilante group, Delta Force.
“I find the comments by Major-General Adu Amanfo distastefully unprofessional and a direct attack on my unblemished professional career spanning over three decades in the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Police Service” portion of the statement read.
According to him, even though he is glad that the National Security Coordinator indicated that an investigation will be conducted into his (DCOP Opare-Addo) tenure, it is apt to set the records straight and state that the alleged criminal activities are completely false and a figment of the National Security Coordinator’s imagination.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM DCOP KWAKU AYESU OPARE-ADDO (RTD)
My attention has been drawn to comments by the Acting National Security Coordinator, Major[1]-General Francis Adu Amanfo, alleging that I was a non-performer in my Regional Security Liaison Officer’s role and was involved in criminal activities which led to my removal from office.
Ordinarily, I would not have responded to such accusations but I find the comments by Major-General Adu Amanfo distastefully unprofessional and a direct attack on my unblemished professional career spanning over three decades in the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Police Service.
Even though I am glad that he indicated that an investigation will be conducted into my tenure, it is apt to set the records straight and state that the alleged criminal activities are completely false and a figment of his imagination.
I have always exhibited high professional standards in my work and my record in the various capacities are there for all to see.
Work Experience prior to my role as Ashanti Regional Security Liaison Officer.
– I joined the Ghana Police Service through their officer’s cadet programme in 1989 and passed out in 1990 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and was assigned as the Secretary to the then Inspector General of Police, J.Y.A. Kwofie. I served in this capacity for almost seven years and the longest-serving secretary to the longest-serving IGP in Ghana.

Apart from my regular work,
– I am a Special Consultant and designer of the Security Sector Reform Participants’ Manual on Reform, Restructuring and Rebuilding of Police Institutions, an 86-page manual with an accompanying 24-page Facilitators Notes at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra.
– I have facilitated several training programs for the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre,

1. The constitution of Liberia; Summary and comments
2. Rules of Evidence
3. International Criminal Investigation Standards
4. Legal Aspects of Criminal Investigations
My above work experience has been achieved on the basis of professionalism and integrity without any iota of criminality and non-performance.
With over two decades of service as a senior police officer in the Ghana Police Service, there was not a single allegation against my hard-earned reputation and for this reason, I find the comments made by the Acting National Security Coordinator as a misrepresentation of facts and unfortunate cultivated lies by an Officer of the ilk of a retired Major-General.
Signed
DCOP Kwaku Ayesu Opare-Addo(Rtd)
